NIGHT SHIFT / EXHIBITION / SUMMER PORTREE / 7-22 AUG
During the Scottish winter we tend to spend a lot of time driving in the dark. The daylight hours are short, ‘the weather’ often challenging but the roads are nice and quiet, the landscape stunning.
Our nearest large town is on the mainland, (three hours there, three hours back). We go ‘off island’ pretty regularly for dentist appointments, ‘a big shop’, haircuts and crofting supplies, before swiftly turning around and heading home again, dodging deer along the way.
In the winter it is often dark as we leave home and turning dark again on our return. The change in light is beautiful and the Highlands show themselves in all their dark and moody glory.
